Redesign walk through

So I finally spend some time redesigning adamprocter.org and I thought it was worth talking about the set up and layout. The only set goals was to ensure web standards compliance and that due to the less frequent nature of the articles I post to the site, I wanted some focus on my more frequent updates from delicious (links) , twitter (microblog) and other sites of interest that the front page was worth visiting even if a new article by myself was not yet posted. I also wanted to ensure I could pick the front articles and not rely on the 'blog' approach of date ordered articles.

Lets look at the layout first and Ill try and talk about each section. I expect I will have to update this post with an attempt to explain the thoughts a little more but for now please comment away. image

figure 1. my articles

This first section is my articles, this is designed to show off the top rated articles, not nesccarlity the latest, I will now need to spend some time editing the open paragraphy, I would expect all new articles to be feature but not all will make the full width article

figure 2. my blog roll

Rather then have a list of links to blogs, seeing the latest articles seemed an nice compliment to my own articles.

figure 3. my links and tweets

The links and tweets are there to keep you up to date with some of my browsing and micro blogginf

figure 4. links and more

LInks to my other activities and hopefully some working links to feed versions etc.
